I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and continue to have a wonderful holiday season. Yesterday, I pushed out the new version of advancescreenings.com and it seems to be working very well! Here is a quick explanation of some of the changes:
- cleaner design: I tried to redo the user experience for easier navigation with more information for screenings.
- add screening: the add screening link is now ajaxified so you don’t have to leave the page you’re currently viewing! It’s still as easy as submitting a link…we’ll take care of everything else to add it to the site!
- location aware: This was probably the most requested feature. Now, we’ll try to guess your location and show you the closest screenings to you. You can also log in via facebook and save your location so you’ll always see the closest screenings near you!
- grouped sources: Now screenings are grouped by city and date. There is usually one screening per movie per city but they have multiple ways of getting passes from various sources. Now we group them all together to make it easier for you to find sources and passes. Also, if we get some information (like time or theater location), it’ll be available for all the other sources of the same screening!
- user interactions: You can now log in via facebook and set whether you want tickets, have tickets, or not interested for each movie. A couple of people have asked what the point of this is. Well, first, seeing how many people are interested in each screening will give you an indication of how hard it will be to get passes. Second, it’ll help you keep track of what passes you already have…if you’re like and try to go to every single movie, sometimes you forget which passes you already have
. Third, you’ll be able to see which friends want to go or already have passes so you can bug them to take you
.
We hope you enjoy the new site and it becomes easier for you to use and get passes to advance screenings! We still have a lot more planned so keep looking out for more updates and let us know what you think via the feedback form!
