About
Welcome to advancescreenings.com – your source for free advance movie screenings! We DO NOT host any of the screenings. We have no control on when or where any of the screenings are. That is determined by the movie studios and the public relations (PR) companies that they hire. What we try and do is aggregate all of the screening information in one place and make it easy for you to search and find out about the movies and screenings that you want to see!
How does advancescreenings.com work?
Everyday, we scour the internet for information on movie screenings. We add them to the site as soon as we can and sort them by movie and location. You can either click on a movie page and see if there’s a screening in your city (or your friends’ cities – sharing is caring!) or search by your location and see which movies are coming up in your area.
When you click on “Get Passes” you’ll be redirected to the webpage that we found. This could either be a contest, giveaway, a pass which you can print, or just more information on how to get passes like RSVP Codes for Gofobo or a physical location to pick up hard tickets.
How does twitter work?
At advancescreenings.com, we try and make it as simple as possible for our users to find out about advance movie screenings. We have set up a twitter account which tweets about every screening that we post to the site (@freemovies). We have also made a twitter account for EACH STATE (@freemovies/advancescreeningsbystate) like @CAScreenings and @NYScreenings. You can also follow our main account for site updates and reviews (@screenings).
Here’s the catch. The tweets are not instant. Every 10 minutes we’ll tweet a new screening. So if you really want to be first and find out about screenings before anyone else, you have to visit the site frequently! (Hey, we need the traffic to pay the bills!)
How does Gofobo work?
Many of the screenings these days are through a website called Gofobo. This is a website that one of the biggest movie PR companies have made to organize their screenings. You print out a pass from them which contains a unique bar code and then they scan the bar code at the theater and let you in! But how do you get a pass? Sometimes they open up the passes to everyone, email you exclusive invites, or you find a RSVP code from one of the screening sponsors. Here’s a great page from Gofobo explaining how their RSVP Codes work: http://www.gofobo.com/faq/gofobo_rsvp_codes_explained.
But it says it’s sold out!
This seems to be the default messaging from Gofobo. But believe me, it doesn’t really mean it’s sold out! Most of the time you just need to find a Gofobo RSVP Code from one of the sponsors. And if you’re lucky, sometimes they open up passes closer to the day of the screening and you can get a pass without a RSVP code!
Who are the screening sponsors?
Usually, these are local companies like radio stations, tv stations, local websites and blogs, or newspapers. Most of the time, they are listed on the Gofobo screening page. You should listen, watch, and read these sponsors to find codes to get passes. Here at advancescreenings.com we DO NOT post Gofobo codes because Gofobo’s partner sponsor these screenings in order to get traffic and customers. When other websites post these codes, they are hurting the partners and they may stop sponsoring the screenings and then the screenings may stop altogether. So why mess up a good thing? Support the sponsors who let you see these movies before they come out and for free!
What we try to do at advancescreenings.com is find these sponsors who share the codes and post them on the site. That way our users can find the screenings and the sponsors get the traffic they wanted in the first place! A win win!
