Little has been known about this film but now we finally have some ideas. James Gunn brought us the first trailer and clip ever shown to the public at Comic-Con. The one thing I already knew about this film was the great ensemble: Rainn Wilson, Ellen Page, Liv Tyler, Nathan Fillion, and even Kevin Bacon! From the footage, it looked like a low-budget Kick-Ass to me. The script was written before Kick-Ass was ever made and the film makers themselves referred to it as a low-budget Watchmen. However…there’s a lot more to it.

Facebook. Everyone knows about it and almost everybody is on it. To not be a part of it is just as conscious a decision as not to drink water, as it has become just as much a part of society as eating and sleeping. Despite its widespread popularity, however, for most, little is known about its origins, its founders, and how it has become such an institution in our everyday life. Cue Columbia Pictures to bring you The Social Network, the tale of how this social networking phenom implanted itself into the homes of millions of Americans nationwide. The Social ...
REVIEW: Catfish with Q&A with the filmmakers
This is one of those festival films which got a lot of buzz, got picked up by a distributor, and then baffled the suits on how to market the film to anybody. Catfish premiered at Sundance last year by virtually unknown filmmakers with little fanfare but gained a lot of attention as it screened. The logo and trailer being show to the general public have almost nothing to do with the actual movie. And neither will this review...This film is very hard to review because once you get into what the film is really about, you ruin the movie. So ...
REVIEW: Flipped
Flipped is a great wholesome movie. It was truly marvelous. It tells the classic story of young love between a boy and a girl but in regard to film, it doesn't tell it in the classical way. The movie is set in the fifties and takes us back to a time of the radio where stories were just told verbally. Flipped heavily relies on the great monologues of the main characters and uses the visuals to support that. It's a movie that can be enjoyed by young and old and has a light enjoyable feeling even when dealing with difficult ...
REVIEW: Piranha 3D
If you're ever in Thailand, go see a movie...their theaters are very luxurious even on Hollywood standards. At the beginning of each film they play a little montage in honor of their ruling King where you must stand...it's quite a different experience but very cool. Most of the movies they show are quite recent coming out at or around the same time as the US release dates and sometimes even before! Walking around Bangkok I noticed that they were promoting Piranha 3D a lot so I knew I had to check it out... As I expected, it was hilariously bad but ...
REVIEW: Going the Distance
Going the Distance is not your typical rom com (Remember, it's rated R). Sure, it has the romantic side for the ladies but the comedy is definitely for the dudes (women will get a kick out of it too though). Starring Drew Barrymore and Justin Long, Going the Distance delivers a nonstop (pun?) orgy of humor and emotions without going over the top and keeps it realistic. It has mass appeal but doesn't sell out to conform...no wonder it was pushed back a week for the Labor Day weekend...I think a lot of people are going to love this one. The ...
Comic-Con Preview: Skyline
Posted on July 23rd, 2010 by Matthew FongSkyline looks amazing! We got to see the first ever look of the trailer for the film. They only finished filming 9 weeks ago and the visual effects were started 3 weeks ago but they wanted to make sure they had something to show us at Comic-Con. This is a completely independent film that had no studio help and was literraly shot in one of the director’s houses. The idea started around the time that Paranormal Activity was relased and the Strause brothers (who direct the film) and their two creative partners discussed how hard it was to make a film these days so they decided if the guy who did Paranormal Activity could do it, so could they!

Summit’s Drive Angry 3D
Posted on July 23rd, 2010 by Matthew FongFrom the director who brought us My Bloody Valentine 3D, Patrick Lussier, comes Drive Angry 3D. He said that the difference between Bloody Valentine was that it was a suspense and he wanted to do an action film in 3D. Drive Angry is pure action. He’s one of the few directors who has already completed a 3D movie (real 3D, not conversion) so you’re going to see some of the best effects and storytelling through the new dimension.

Posted on July 23rd, 2010 by Matthew FongSo I was at the Scott Pilgrim vs. The World panel at Comic-Con and Edgar Wright was moderating his own film with twelve members of the cast along with the creator of story, Bryan Lee O’Malley. The panel was hilarious and they gave out these little buttons to the crowd. At the end of the panel, Edgar Wright asked if we would like it if he screened the movie to fans tonight (after he asked us if we liked chocolate). Obviously, the crowd went crazy, but only people who got white buttons could see the screening tonight. I had a white button
